Hu Zheng Hui, xie xie for your translation. I am sorry I left it so long. I am not sure why I had not applied it sooner. But it is in the repository now.
Of course the file will need constant updating during the development process up to the release time.

Added to r6921.
Due to POT/PO updates, there are now new entries, I provided some fuzzy entries as much as I could, but of course they need double checking.

how can others trust your Chinese translation , according to these bad or poor English ?!
Committed in r7017.
I changed the wiki page names back to the English ones since right now the only working wiki pages are in English.

As far as I know it the Chinese translation is a group effort. So I am sure that these individuals check each other's translations. And I periodically check translation strings myself as well.

I've updated the zh_CN translations for r8177. Several mistakes were fixed.
I have translated all the 788 msgids and eliminated all the fuzzy marks. From now on, I will update the zh_CN tranlations constantly.
Some terms I used in the translation are different from previous translations. I don't think there's any wrong or right criteria in terminology. It's just about personal or regional flavors. Therefore, if any Trac zh_CN user has different opinion, please let me know. I am glad to discuss with you! We can take a polling to decide some terms if necessary.
目前Trac能翻译的词条我都翻译了,以后我也会一直坚持更新。 有些术语跟之前的不同。我觉得这没什么对错可言,只是习惯而已。 如果大家有异议,欢迎与我讨论。有必要的话,我们可以举行投票确定一些比较有争议的词。 相对于redmine而言,Trac的本地化还有很长的路要走,希望和大家一起努力改进Trac。

抱歉,现在才回。
只要用相应替换相应版本Trac源代码中 trac/locale/zh_CN/LC_MESSAGES/下面的messages.po文件即可。
如果不是很急,可以等相应的Patch被Trac开发团队提交进源码库。

Update d zh_CN translation for r8970
You've got a lot of translations still marked as "fuzzy", see wiki:TracL10N#TranslationWorkflow, point 4.
Well, you still have fuzzy translations, and you truncated away most msgstr[1]
plural forms.
For example, you have:
#: trac/ticket/templates/report_view.html:94 #, fuzzy, python-format msgid "%(num)s match" msgid_plural "%(num)s matches" msgstr[0] "%(num)s匹配"
where it should be:
#: trac/ticket/templates/report_view.html:94 #, python-format msgid "%(num)s match" msgid_plural "%(num)s matches" msgstr[0] "%(num)s匹配" msgstr[1] "%(num)s匹配"
msgstr[1] "%(num)s匹配"
could be replaced by the appropriate plural form, if any, but even if its content is the same as for msgstr[0]
, the msgstr[1]
entry must be present, otherwise when the plural form gets selected, no translation will be shown.
Removing the fuzzy
tag is important, otherwise you won't get the translation either in the compiled catalog, unless the -f
flag is given to compile_catalog
.

Thanks zengjie, patch applied in r9003. You can even see them in action here ;-)
I noticed that there was indeed a problem with the plural forms in Babel. When updating the catalog, it removed all the msgstr[1] "..."
lines in case they were identical to the msgstr[0] "..."
one.
Besides, we're currently considering various options for ways to improve the handling of translations: using Transifex, providing svn accounts for translators, etc. If not already done, people interested should join the Trac-dev MailingList (see Trac i18n and Transifex).

My bad, chinese has no plural form, so Babel does the right thing here.
Sorry for having insisted to get the msgstr[1]
in the file.
Btw, your messages.po file has been updated in r9012, you're now at 98% only ;-)

Thanks Hong Shuning. It's however a good idea to compile the catalog before submitting (see TracL10N), or to check the messages.po file with msgfmt
:
$ msgfmt --check trac/locale/zh_CN/LC_MESSAGES/messages.po trac/locale/zh_CN/LC_MESSAGES/messages.po:3509: a format specification for argument 'reoname', as in 'msgstr', doesn't exist in 'msgid' msgfmt: found 1 fatal error $ PYTHONPATH=. python setup.py compile_catalog -l zh_CN running compile_catalog 4867 error: trac/locale\zh_CN\LC_MESSAGES\messages.po:3508: unknown named placeholder u'reoname' compiling catalog 'trac/locale\\zh_CN\\LC_MESSAGES\\messages.po' to 'trac/locale\\zh_CN\\LC_MESSAGES\\messages.mo'
Fixed that translation and committed patch as r9176.
Jake Li contributed some updates with Transifex, see r9357. Please review.
Also, there were some errors during compilation of the catalog:
$ PYTHONPATH=. python setup.py compile_catalog -l zh_CN running compile_catalog 5350 error: trac/locale\zh_CN\LC_MESSAGES\messages.po:54: unknown named placeholder u'name' error: trac/locale\zh_CN\LC_MESSAGES\messages.po:3648: unknown named placeholder u'num' error: trac/locale\zh_CN\LC_MESSAGES\messages.po:3653: unknown named placeholder u'num' error: trac/locale\zh_CN\LC_MESSAGES\messages.po:4271: unknown named placeholder u'repo' error: trac/locale\zh_CN\LC_MESSAGES\messages.po:4296: unknown named placeholder u'duration' error: trac/locale\zh_CN\LC_MESSAGES\messages.po:4578: unknown named placeholder u'id' compiling catalog 'trac/locale\\zh_CN\\LC_MESSAGES\\messages.po' to 'trac/locale\\zh_CN\\LC_MESSAGES\\messages.mo'
-f
option needed to write the .mo file anyway.
I kept them to test how we react within Trac on such errors (not well I suppose).
Patch applied in r9414 but there's still plural=2 and two plural forms for each plural translation. This should be fixed (comment:39).
I got a submission from gnozil (Jake Li) via Transifex, but:
- still the plural=2 issue
- stats dropped from 1058 messsages to 1033
- lots of new errors:
$ make compile-zh_CN python setup.py compile_catalog -l zh_CN running compile_catalog error: trac/locale\zh_CN\LC_MESSAGES\messages.po:180: unknown named placeholder u'name' error: trac/locale\zh_CN\LC_MESSAGES\messages.po:1757: unknown named placeholder u'reponame' error: trac/locale\zh_CN\LC_MESSAGES\messages.po:1780: unknown named placeholder u'new_rev' error: trac/locale\zh_CN\LC_MESSAGES\messages.po:2161: unknown named placeholder u'num' error: trac/locale\zh_CN\LC_MESSAGES\messages.po:4144: unknown named placeholder u'target' error: trac/locale\zh_CN\LC_MESSAGES\messages.po:4264: unknown named placeholder u'reponame' error: trac/locale\zh_CN\LC_MESSAGES\messages.po:4273: unknown named placeholder u'reponame' error: trac/locale\zh_CN\LC_MESSAGES\messages.po:4283: unknown named placeholder u'reponame' error: trac/locale\zh_CN\LC_MESSAGES\messages.po:5037: unknown named placeholder u'path' error: trac/locale\zh_CN\LC_MESSAGES\messages.po:5215: unknown named placeholder u'from_' error: trac/locale\zh_CN\LC_MESSAGES\messages.po:5220: incompatible format for placeholder u'version': 'd' and 's' are not compatible error: trac/locale\zh_CN\LC_MESSAGES\messages.po:5452: unknown named placeholder u'date' error: trac/locale\zh_CN\LC_MESSAGES\messages.po:5460: unknown named placeholder u'date' compiling catalog 'trac/locale\\zh_CN\\LC_MESSAGES\\messages.po' to 'trac/locale\\zh_CN\\LC_MESSAGES\\messages.mo'

It's so nice to hear that Trac 0.12 is now in beta;)
I have translated all of the messages in r9640. But I'm confused with the plural form issue. In the first patch, I changed nplurals=2 to nplurals=1, because Chinese only needs a single form. According to the official gettext documentation, nplurals should be 2. However, soon I found that all plural form messages were not translated in my testing Trac site. So I changed nplurals back to 2 and copy msgstr[0] to msgstr[1], and everything seems okay now.
I don't know whether my method is correct, but it just works. If I'm correct, please use the second patch, otherwise, please tell me the correct way to deal with these strange plural forms. :D
I'm really confused. cboos, help me…
Sorry, neither patch is correct. You should not change the msgid
and msgid_plural
strings, that part should be rigorously identical to what's in the source:trunk/trac/locale/messages.pot file.
Then, your translation should have a single form, and be placed in a
msgstr[0]
line (well, the tools should do that correctly, I don't know how you ended up with msgstr
there).
Please have a look at the Korean or Japan catalogs, which do it correctly.
I fixed the second patch and applied it in r9643.
I also fixed the following issues found during make check-zh_CN
:
check-zh_CN: trac/locale/zh_CN/LC_MESSAGES/messages.po:494: a format specification for argument 'err' doesn't exist in 'msgstr' trac/locale/zh_CN/LC_MESSAGES/messages.po:499: a format specification for argument 'err' doesn't exist in 'msgstr' trac/locale/zh_CN/LC_MESSAGES/messages.po:3915: 'msgstr' is not a valid Python format string, unlike 'msgid'. Reason: The character that terminates the directive number 1 is not a valid conversion specifier. msgfmt: found 3 fatal errors
Please double check the changes.
I've reviewed the changes and there's no problem been found. Finally, I know how to handle plural forms correctly. Thanks, cboos!
Note to Chinese translators: Please keep the Plural-Forms field in the header unchanged. It should be exactly the following.
Plural-Forms: nplurals=1; plural=0\n
There are still some minor adjustments could be done. I will finish them in few days.

You're not saying which version you're compiling. Probably an old one, as the current version in source:branches/0.12-stable/trac/locale/zh_CN/LC_MESSAGES/messages.po doesn't have the abovementioned placeholders in those line numbers.
Furthermore, your new version introduces fuzzy translations and new untranslated messages.

I'd like to get some feedback on tx-0.12.6dev-zh_CN.diff, which correspond to updates from Transifex which I'm not sure are actual "updates" or just "reversions". Among those changes, some chunks were clearly additions, and these I've committed in [11575/branches/0.12-stable/trac/locale/zh_CN/LC_MESSAGES/messages.po], and there are removals that should probably be ignored, but I'm interested to know if the changes to existing translations are worth keeping or not. Thanks!
