Description
How about putting a donation box for Trac development?
Maybe people would like to contribute that way too…

It can be. The money that comes from donations can be used to put a "bounty" (to encourage potential developers) on specific features/bugs that is needed to be done but no-one can find the time (and perhaps it's critical for the release cycle).
Of course it's just a suggestion, perhaps very few donations would come and it wouldn't add up to something substantial.

Well, regarding the bounties, let's not open that can of worms… What would happen if someone works on a ticket being mainly motivated by its bounty, and then we (the TracTeam) refuse the patch on technical grounds (or simply because it doesn't fit the plan, or our taste). We would then be the "bad guys" preventing him to get the bounty ;-) Unless inclusion in Trac wouldn't be required to get the bounty, of course. In which case, there are probably other sites where you can get people to develop a patch or a plugin for money. Anyway, if you have a real need for a paid development, I believe there are plenty of solutions already proposed as CommercialServices.
So I wouldn't like to see bounties as a motivation for Trac developers (but then, I don't think there are any chances this could happen).
Now on the topic of a PayPal donation box, to sponsor Trac related things, why not. It could help pay the server for example, or the TracCon 2020, but I think it's up to Jonas (the project owner) to decide.

Thanks for the suggestion. My feeling, though, is that most Trac developers are lacking time rather than money, and I'm not sure PayPal manages that currency…
