#5271 closed defect (fixed)

Custom query RSS feeds mising the channel description element

Description

RSS feeds for ticket custom queries are not working properly in (at least) 0.10.3.1. I have tested it at trac.edgewall.org today, and the result is the same as in my installation.

This is a link to the RSS feed for milestone 0.10.3 closed tickets here at trac.edgewall.org.

I have submitted the URL of the feed to the Feed Validator – see the result.

If I get it right, the channel is missing a required description element. (And it really is, looking at the source of the RSS feed.)

TIA for any response.

Milestone: 0.11
Status: newassigned

Good catch, this seems to be true on trunk as well. I'll have a look.

Thanks for the report. It should now be fixed in trunk and the 0.10-stable branch.

A possible workaround for trac 0.10.x is to make sure the "descr" option in the "project" section of trac.ini is set to a non-empty string. This will force the template to output a description element.

Thanks for the quick response. The feed is now valid (at least several feed validators say so) but still when I click the feed link in Firefox 2.0 or IE7, none of the two browsers recognizes it as a RSS feed and handles it as a plain XML file; see the milestone 0.10.3 closed tickets and click the link at bottom.

Also, there is no orange XML icon next to the feed link (unlike, for example, the RSS feed link at the bottom of the Timeline page). I don't know whether this is indicating anything but the thing is that the Timeline RSS feed works as expected while the custom queries (and other) RSS feeds do not.

I'm sorry but I'd like to reopen the ticket for reasons given in the previous comment. Or should I rather add a new ticket for that?

It's fine like that. Note that the same issue goes for the ticket RSS feed.
