Description

I think it would be nice to have a page that lists recent ticket comments to see what tickets are being actively discussed.

Component: generalticket system
Milestone: 0.11
Owner: changed from Jonas Borgström to Christian Boos
Summary: recent ticket-comments pagerecent ticket-comments macro

Maybe you haven't seen the possibility to list ticket changes in the Timeline? (see ticket_show_details).

However, the idea of being able to insert a summary of the changes in a Wiki page is not new, see ticket:700#comment:3.

As #700 was initially asking for something else that we certainly wont implement, I'll close it in favor of this one, and refocus the current ticket on implementing a RecentChanges macro for tickets.

Replying to cboos:

Yeah, I was thinking more of a page similar to the wiki's "recent changes" page, but for tickets and ticket comments. In other words, a page where tickets are displayed only once, sorted by modification date. It this the intent of the new macro you had in mind?

There's also #3990, which will give you the possibility to use the TicketQuery macro for that (I keep in mind the idea of getting access to the ticket comments or a link to the latest change).

Milestone: 0.110.12

Not for 0.11.

You could also do something like {20} and the Auth_chgs field to see the most recently and actively discussed topics.

I don't see there being a recent-tickets macro in Trac core. Better support in Query w/macro is likely the best option, but other linked tickets already deal with this. Perhaps also a request-a-hack at Track-Hacks?

Anyway, propose 'wontfix'.

And what about a Timeline macro? This idea has been proposed a few times already and will cover not only this need but many others (e.g. recent changesets, recent whatever actually).

Yes, even better. Could not find any such proposal though.

There was at least this: googlegroups:trac-dev:4e34d091e4a2ab0a and I probably have a patch somewhere ;-)

The new TicketQuery features and {20} satisfy my needs, so feel free to close this ticket.

A Timeline macro might be good for showing what when on during a sprint or something, but doesn't really fit the need I was having to list the most recent active tickets without duplicates.
