Description
With time passing the closed tickets usually exceeds the one open and while searching it's annoying to find them.
The ability to search only on non-closed tickets would solve this problem and be very welcome :-)

Search results are ordered by date, with the latest changes on top. So closed tickets with no recent activity tend to come last in the list.
I'd vote for 'worksforme'.

I would very much like this enhancement, the increasing number of closed tickets is more noise to wade through on a quick search. Some were closed recently so for me they are scattered through the search results, not grouped at the end. An "Include closed" checkbox or something on the Search page would be great.

In the SearchRefactoring branch, I implemented a "Send to Custom Query" feature. Once you send the set of found tickets to the query view, you can add further constraints on them, like showing only the opened ones. Would that fit the bill?
Alternatively, in recent versions of Trac, you can now use the custom queries for directly searching a word into the description field, which might be enough in some cases.
