Description

OSX version 10.5.4 on MacBook Oct 4. 2008.

When adding AOL account only, an pop up error occurred The screen name you entered is not registered. Check to ensure you typed it correctly. If it is a new name, you must register it at www.aim.com before you can use it.

Only after adding/connecting a GMail account and then connecting the AOL account did the error go away. Subsequent launches did not result in the error as long as the GMail account existed.

Deleting the GMail account also caused the AOL connection to fail resulting in the same error. Adding other accounts (MSN, YAHOO) were not affected by the presence/absence of the GMAIL account.

This was repeatable on two separate laptop systems. Both running OSX Leopard fully patched as of 10-4-08. One running OEM install and one running COTS version.

If you add a gmail account with xyz@… it not only crashes adium, but does not like the aim screen name. by omitting the @gmail .com and just putting the gmail account, this does not happen. And the aim screen name error problem goes away to.
