Description
It is very common to have a product structure in SCM. Here it would be called a component structure. Eg.

| | |User Guide
An editor for graphically specifying component interactions/coupling would be very helpful to this.
Of course release managment features as well as version plan belong in here to (which revision of which files form which versions/releases). This is a very rough description and of course this would need a specification…
