Description
I have a lot of PDF Attachments in my wiki.
There is some strange behaviour with those attachments: Some of them are directly opened by the browser, if you click on the link, but occasionally some of the pdf files are offered for download…
but there is no really difference in the two pdf files..

Using FireFox 2.0.0.11 on WinXP SP2 and TRAC 0.10.5
comment:3 by , 17 years ago
I've run into this with Adobe Illustrator .ai files from CS3 on a Mac, Firefox 2, and Trac 0.10.4. I'm assuming the file magic was not catching the right kind of binary in the first X bytes to mark it download-only. The odd thing is that it was impossible to get the file back out in workable form on a Mac or WinXP, even with raw format download.

Maybe this has something todo with the tracd or the file itself..
trac should override/send the http-headers itself, e.g.
Content-Disposition: attachment;

This ticket should be closed, this seems more like a documentation bug:
- If you do not want Content-Disposition: attachment to be sent, make render_unsafe_content = true. You need to do this in the correct section, I put it in all these section: ![browser], ![wiki] and ![attachment]
- If you do not want trac to display unknown/cannot render page for pdf/msword, then use [raw-attachment:attach.pdf]
It took me some time to figure these out and you don't need any plugins or patches IMHO.

Well, the behavior is documented in TracIni, at least.
In case the actual behavior is different than documented, please reopen and describe the steps to reproduce the problem.
What OS/browser are you using? Also, please fill in the Trac version field when submitting tickets.
