#5498 new enhancement
Use #. as a wiki markup for ordered list

Description
It would seem natural to write ordered list using the #
character, such as:
#. first item #. second item
This syntax would not replace the current syntax, i.e. using 1.
, but would be an add-on.

adds unnecessary complexity for things like wysiwyg, so i'd strongly oppose such things.

What are you refering to (sorry, I don't see the relation w/ wysiwyg)?

Well, at this stage the wysiwyg approach is not really possible anyway. And it's not by "freezing" the evolution of the Trac WikiFormatting that this is going to change.
Rather, the editors would have to work on some kind of normalized/adapted Wiki content (produced out of the WikiDOM - see #4431), and at that point the original syntax will not matter ( 1.
, #.
, #
, <ol>
…).
Of course, when saving the edits, some standard syntax will have to be picked, but here again it won't matter if we choose e.g. #.
over 1.
for serialization.

Seems fine with me as well, although I don't mind the current syntax once I got used to it.

Note that WikiCreole has # alone (without the dot).

Seems OK to me: use of number sign here is both natural and non conflicting with other uses of
#
.Though note that there's already a long list of existing syntax for ordered lists.
