Installing Trac_on_FreeBSD

Trac is in the FreeBSD ports collection, www/trac.

At the time of writing the version available is 0.9.6

For more information:

Tip: If you don't want the version of Trac available in the ports tree, install the port anyway to have the proper dependencies automatically installed. Uninstall the port, leaving the Trac dependencies installed, and then install your chosen version of Trac.

Special Note on FreeBSD 4.x

As of at least 04/2006, the clearsilver port for FreeBSD (one of Trac's dependencies) is broken for FreeBSD 4.x. It appears to be a threads issue. However, until the port is fixed, it appears possible to build clearsilver from the source distribution rather than ports (latest stable - 0.10.3) by using GMAKE instead of MAKE. You may need to disable clearsilver's Ruby bindings, but this is not an impediment to using Trac. Download clearsilver, untar it and build and install as follows:

./configure —disable-ruby && gmake && gmake install

Once clearsilver has been installed, Trac and the rest of its dependencies will install cleanly from ports.

Note: See TracWiki for help on using the wiki.
