Description
Below the text area used to edit the source of a page, there is a TracFormatting link. It would be a really, really, really good idea if this link opened in a new browser window. The current behaviour is to open the link in the same window so you lose the text that you have just spent 2 hours working on.

Eventually someone could contribute a patch or plugin to interpose a javascript confirmation dialog, but usually that's more annoying than anything else.
Note:
See TracTickets
for help on using tickets.
It would be inconsistent with all the other Trac links: -1
What if a user does *not* want to get another window/tab? - I usually don't.
I think this "ask the browser to do the user's work" question has already been debated in another ticket, though.
It's quite easy to close a browser session in many other (unexpected) ways, so the safest way is to either save your work on a regular basis or use an external editor.
As a side note that many browsers do not lose the edited (i.e. you can browse back and forward), as long as HTTPS is not in use.
