Description

I've just run into a case where trac is creating an RSS feed that's not valid. The feed is the timeline, at the following URL: http://appletv.nanopi.net/trac/timeline?ticket=on&ticket_details=on&milestone=on&changeset=on&wiki=on&max=50&daysback=30&format=rss

In addition, it is also in that ticket's rss feed: http://appletv.nanopi.net/trac/ticket/190?format=rss

The symbol in question is an Open Apple: 

Upon seeing this, I upgraded from 0.10.4 to 0.10.5, and it didn't resolve the issue. In searching I couldn't find any tickets which were less that 2 years old, so apologies if this is a duplicate.

Thanks for looking into this.

In further examination, I am not able to create a ticket that contains this error. I have no idea how the user managed to do so. Maybe the issue isn't actually the symbol, but something surrounding it.

I installed ticket change, and found that the user managed to insert a 0x0b, vertical tab, before the apple symbol, like the following:

I have since corrected the user's post to remove the vertical tab

So I guess this was more of a support question, which falls under InstallationIssue.

No it's not. I don't need support, as I clearly stated that I edited the post to remove this bug's effect. A user managed to insert a vertical tab into the comment in a fashion that caused trac to produce invalid rss feeds. I'm not sure how he managed to insert it, but any user entry should not be able to break a fundamental feature in trac.

Fair enough.

A user managed to insert a vertical tab into the comment in a fashion that caused trac to produce invalid rss feeds. I'm not sure how he managed to insert it (…)

That would be useful information to have, though.

Then it's a duplicate of #7643 (this ticket was earlier, but the other one was reported on a more recent version of Trac).
