#3143 closed enhancement (wontfix)

intertrac: trac should be able to move/copy a ticket to another trac instance

Description

InterTrac would benefit from copying/moving a ticket or a wiki page to another trac instance or to the same trac instance. this would make sense in the following cases:

  • a ticket was opened in the wrong instance (it does not belong to pec, but to track-hacks)
  • a ticket contains a lot of things, and was solved partially. a new one should be created to track the rest of the issues.
  • the same applies to wiki pages.

an extension would be to also adjust the existing links to that ticket or wiki page, like in all tracs known via intertrac-map.

This is somewhat done by the Datamover plugin on trac-hacks, though only for instances on the same box.

I can't quite see this a feature for Trac core. With recent discussions removing the 'clone' inside the same project because it was non-core, having a core feature that copies to other instances certainly seems on the outside.

Propose close as 'wontfix'.

as suggested, marked as "plugin". would an additional closed state "plugin" make sense?

In our Environment we use Trac for Task management. We have multiple trac instances installed for 3 different departments that require different milestones. At core you probably don't need this, but we are looking for a solutions where I could reassign a ticket to "xyz" user or "IT" milestone, the ticket could be moved via some batch script to "IT department" and viceversa. The ticket move plugin works but it slow. Every ticket takes 2sec more to load (as of year ago) which was too slow to enable on many people.Only admin has permissions for it but we are reaching volumes where managing who will move the tickets is a job on its own. The key for us would be a better or more flexible plugin.
