Description

Is there a way to add comments to the tickets created by the users or users in CC through email ?

Sometimes people starts replying to the email generated by the Trac system and this creates two places to look when trying to get a handle on work being done related to a ticket: the trac webpage and people's email.

so Is there an ability to respond to these trac emails and have the reply show up in the trac ticket automatically ?

It is outside the scope of what Trac will provided in the foreseeable future. See also #250.

There are plugins providing the feature: MailToTracPlugin, EmailtoTracScript. If you have additional questions, please ask on the MailingList.

How to test the mailtotrac plugin locally ?

I have installed the trac and mailtotrac into my localhost successfully.

I do not know how to configure SMTP server to send emails from the trac (installed in my localhost) to receive emails ?

And how to test mailtotrac plugin ? The email received must be sent back to the localhost and the reply of the email must be added as a comment in the trac ticket page.

I request someone to update me about this. I'm doing this setup in ubuntu 14.0.4

Again, this is a SupportQuestion.

As Ryan said above, you should really ask on the MailingList as advised because 1) you'll have more chances to reach someone who actually knows the answer, 2) we usually don't answer support questions here.
