Description
I connected a Yamaha Surround Receiver to my iMac G5 using a TOSlink (optical) cable. Unfortunately when watching movies with AC3 the receiver doesn't get any sound at all. The GUI clicking sounds and normal Stereo movies are working just fine.
I already changed the settings to optical and enabled AC3 and DTS in XBMC. Other applications like "MPlayer OSX Extended", Quicktime, VLC 1.1.9 are working fine. Using those apps receiver shows "Dolby Digital" as Audio Decoder.
Also using my MacBook Pro (Intel) and XBMC 11.0rc2 I have no problems getting the surround sound to the receiver.
Systems: iMac G5 (PPC) - Mac OS 10.5.8 - XBMC 11.0rc2 → no AC3 passthrough
MacBook Pro late 2008 (Intel) - Mac OS 10.7.3 - XBMC 11.0rc2 → AC3 Passthrough working
Settings > System > Audio Output:
- Audio output: Optical/Coax
- Speaker 5.1
- Dolby Digital (AC3) receiver: yes
Sorry, WrongTrac.
