    1 Actually, it seems that the wide use of fingerprinting techniques is mostly because of this reason, making possible a "never expires" policy which drastically reduces the network load ([http://developer.yahoo.com/performance/rules.html#expires Yahoo's performance tip about Expires), rather than to circumvent buggy browser behavior (although this will also fix that problem, of course).
