Reddit acquires the Dubsmash video platform. Want to compete with TikTok?

Reddit has officially announced that it welcomes the Dubsmash video content creation platform on board. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but a Reddit spokeswoman said the acquisition was based on a combination of cash and shares.

Dubsmash platform allows users to create short videos and edit them. For example, the solution enables video overlay and lip synchronization to a song or movie fragment. Thanks to the signed agreement, such materials can now also be created using Reddit.

Interestingly, according to Reuters , Facebook and Snap were interested in the Dubsmash acquisition earlier this year. Ultimately, no contract was signed, the terms of which were not officially disclosed. However, it was allegedly an investment of hundreds of millions of dollars.
