設計師為了讓居家空間多了層次感，會在大型櫃子、桌几選用深淺楬色、咖啡色、茶色相互搭配，而木頭元色可以增添居家溫度，加上順著空間裡的簡約線條，就能製造深淺漸進效果。

天地壁，最好統一色調，避免顏色過深或過淺，影響協調性。

床架、床頭櫃與空間的整體搭配，建議使用同一色系，甚至木紋貼皮最好也是同一材質，視覺上才會有空間延伸的效果，而床單、枕套、窗簾也最好選購同色系，盡量不要用對比色跳tone，破壞現代風的簡約時尚感。

因此設計師有時會建議屋主拆除遮光或是影響動線牆面，做出開放式客餐廚、或是小書房，讓居家環境的採光變強，這樣一來，天花板、牆面、櫃體的線條也會更佳顯著，就算是隔間，也會建議採用玻璃拉門為區隔！

想要時尚有設計感、又不能過於繁複，現代風格基本的呈現方式，就是要線條俐落！建議可以將線條與溝縫相間，縱向線條，寬窄交錯，創造現代感。

線條不能過多、有的業主會覺得線條多一點比較現代，因此會想加上層板，但往往會讓風格走偏，變成古典風或是鄉村風，不夠精簡俐落，且因為工法及材料的關係，這麼做也會讓預算增加。

把所有的櫃子都變不見、將所有的門片化為壁面，就是現代風的最高境界！家裡的大小雜物散落各處會破壞現代風的美感！

加上現在的居家空間寸土寸金，設計師在現代風的收納，常運用的手法：

簍空矮牆可作為隔間牆

可能是電視牆、沙發背牆，又或是收納櫃，客餐廳與書房之間的牆面，現在不加門片當道，直接採簍空矮牆的手法，做為隔間牆。

中島吧檯可作為餐廚櫃

利用中島吧檯下方的空間，做為抽屜或是大收納櫃，為餐廚櫃的延伸。

通往臥室、衛浴間可作為隱藏式門片

隱藏式門片，合起來像一般牆面般密合，像一整面牆般讓室內空間變大；推開後別有洞天，可能是臥室、可能是更衣室，也可能是一家人的衛浴空間。

隱藏式收納櫃

現代風的空間設計，為了要將空間有效利用，不少設計師採複合式的設計，像是書櫃做為事務機收納櫃，門片一收、清潔無比。
