Installing Trac_on_FreeBSD

Trac is in the FreeBSD ports collection, www/trac.

At the time of writing the version available is 0.9.6

For more information:

Tip: If you don't want the version of Trac available in the ports tree, install the port anyway to have the proper dependencies automatically installed. Uninstall the port, leaving the Trac dependencies installed, and then install your chosen version of Trac.

'NOTE:' As of at least 04/2006, the clearsilver port for FreeBSD is broken for FreeBSD 4.x. Trac requires this, so in essence, you are SOL if you want to run Trac on 4.x. Google is not showing any workarounds and there does not seem to be any work going on to fix this. It appears to be a threads issue.

Managed to build clearsilver tarballed source distribution (latest stable - 0.10.3) by using GMAKE instead of MAKE. I had to disable Ruby bindings because of another stupid error, which was no real loss for me.

$ ./configure —disable-ruby $ gmake $ gmake install

Trac 0.9.6 running on FreeBSD4.x perfectly!

Note: See TracWiki for help on using the wiki.
