Description
I can see that more and more Open Source projects are now using Trac as their development tool which is nice. There's only one thing I dislike about it: Most Trac sites don't have a possibility to inform users of changes or new releases of the software. I have noticed that some sites offer a RSS-feed. But sites like sourceforge.net or http://www.berlios.de offer a automated email notification which is very convenient for system admins etc.
Maybe some RSS2news solution could be implementet. then rss could automatically also be send via email.

7 years old ticket! nothing done. wow! Anyway, manual process sucks. Sending out an email to notify the team whenever a milestone is closed seems like a fairly standard use case.

In #1233, Version will be made a first-class object in the Trac system. Version creation and change events will be added to the timeline. At least two possibilities will then exist to notify about releases through the timeline RSS feed:
- Have Version creation events coincide with the releases.
- Attach released packages to the Version pages.

Thanks for the suggestion. For the next release, we'll try to generalize our ticket change notification system, so that changes to other Trac resources (in this case, Milestone changes) can be notified as well.
